Le Marche wine tasting, the nice way.

Courses include many chances to get in touch with the local wine making world.

Main wines from Le Marche are :

Verdicchio is the superstar of Le Marche wines. It's famous worldwide as one of the best matches for fish and seafruits dishes as well as aperitifs.

The others aren't as famous but quickly gaining growing appeciation and respect in Italy : Rosso Piceno is produced in the Ascoli area where Montelparo is and where courses are held.
Rich and rubin, is great with meat and main courses. Nearby we also find a small production of a sparkling wine: Vernaccia di Serrapetrona, the only d.o.c.g. of the region.

White ones of the area are Falerio dei colli ascolani, delicate and aromatic, and two ancient type of grapes recently rediscovered and produced, Pecorino and Passerina.

Not far to the north where the climate cools down we have the Maceratino, another ancient treasure.

Strong and rich in flavour are the other two main reds of the region : Rosso Conero and Lacrima di Morro d'Alba, produced in the Ancona area.
Getting closer to the Piedmont tipical strenght, these reds are generous and fulfilling. It requires matching food in strength.
