Le Marche have been cut out from main routes by the Appennines
across the centuries. Industrial developement of Italy's seventies
didn't happen here. Grand tour and touristic success
had usually hit the western part of Italy from Tuscany
to Rome and Naples.
Le Marche have been part of the Pope's state until two centuries ago
and the Pope has never been keen of economic developement.
What has been a disadvantage has resulted now to great
medioeval architecture preservation and genuinity
in the people who managed not to leave these blessed
part of Italy keeping on relying on agriculture for a living
and traditions such as 'Saltarello' music and dance for the fun.
